ONE METRE
The International One Metre
continues to receive interest at all levels from the club sailor right up to
World Championships contenders. The boat is a restricted development class,
which allows just enough refinement to hull and foil shapes to make things
interesting without making older designs out of date to easily. The rigging is
well controlled and simple with three different size rigs being available
depending on the conditions. In fact there is probably never a day you can't
sail an International One Metre. The designs we produce are highlighted below.

STEALTH -
Designed by Trevor Bamforth in early 2000. The boat has been very successful
having won both the New Zealand and USA Nationals 2000, 3rd
place in the 2002 Europeans,
1st place in the Italian Nationals 2004 and equal 1st in 2005 with other
Stealth's finishing in 3rd 4th and 6th. It also achieved 2nd place in the GB
Nationals 2004.
Specification - The hull and deck are constructed with SP Ampreg
Pregel with added pigment to the colour of your choice.
Sicomin Epoxy unpigmented resin with one lamination of 200gm E Glass twill weave cloth
and one lamination of 160gm E Glass twill wave cloth, with
localised reinforcing. A special glass/epoxy fin/mast box that allows most
designs of fin to be used and allows easy adjustment for the mast rake, is
fitted. |

2003. Winner of the 2002 New Zealand Nationals.Boats
finished 3rd, 4th and 5th in the 2004 Australian Nationals.

-
Designed by Graham Bantock this a development of the very successful Ikon,
winner of the 1999 World Championships. The only variation being that it is
slightly slimmer in the bow and it is constructed from a two-piece mould
instead of three as in the case with the Ikon. The boat has been designed
using a velocity prediction program, showing an excellent performance in
moderate to strong conditions but still retaining good light airs speed.
Built under license to Sailsetc.
Specification - The hull and deck are constructed with SP
Ampreg Pregel, gel coat with added pigment to the colour of your choice.
Sicomin Epoxy unpigmented with two laminations of 200gm E Glass twill
weave cloth, with localised reinforcing. A special glass/epoxy fin/mast box
that allows most designs of fin to be used and allows easy adjustment for
the mast rake is fitted.

TINTO and JAZZ -
Designed by Graham Bantock. Both are available as kits only. They have
epoxy/glass hull, epoxy/glass fin/mast box and wooden decks. Tinto, is a
narrower beamed design, and very good in light to moderate airs and is a
version of Graham's very successful `Red Wine'. The other is the earlier
designed `Jazz', a wider beamed boat and has a not to dissimilar under water
design as `Ikon', both make an excellent club boat.
Specification - The
hulls are constructed from Ampreg Pregel, gel coat with added pigment to the
colour of your choice. Sicomin resin with 2 layers
of 200gm E glass twill cloth with localised reinforcing. The fin/mast box is
also made using
Sicomin resin and 2 layers of 200gm E
glass. The deck is laminated ply with wooden under deck fittings for the
winch and servo tray and localised reinforcing.
